The mission of I Am Dying Out Loud is to protect and advocate for those suffering from a serious or terminal illness by removing unwanted religious influence from the process of healthcare, dying, and death, and to offer those who are dying of a neuromuscular disease a “bucket list” experience that enhances the remainder of their life; knowing this is the only one they have to live.

Anticipated specific tasks to fulfill objectives and mission

• Educate the public, through the IADOL website, conferences, or other platforms, about religious overreach in the health care system; particularly when individuals have a terminal illness.
• Represent the Organization by meeting with relevant staff in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and funeral homes to discuss respecting the wishes of non-religious individuals.
• Deploy local ambassadors (Secular Advocates) of the Organization to meet with individuals who are ill or dying in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and possibly their homes, to provide comfort and companionship.
• Offer “bucket list” opportunities for those who are dying of a neuromuscular disease.
• Provide resources via website to update, educate, inform, and build a community.
